Our all-natural tablemats will beautifully fit in with any table setting; they are subtle and neutral in colour. They are carefully woven by hand by one of WomenCraft’s 600 women artisans in Tanzania. They are versatile in functionality and can be used underneath plates as well as hot pads for pots and pans. For this specific Tablemat design, white threads of upcycled “Gunia” grain sacks are intricately woven into the natural grasses.
How it's Made
Handwoven from all natural and upcycled materials: local grasses, dried bark of banana trees, and threads of upcycled Nubian grain sacks All our products are intricately woven by hand, following traditional weaving techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation for hundreds of years. The weaving technique is very labor-intensive, so even smaller products take several days to weave. Artisans use molds and are supervised by lead-weavers to ensure all products meet WomenCraft's high quality standards.
