Materials
Local natural fibres: Our bags are expertly woven using sustainably harvested palm leaves and naturally dyed palm leaves, ensuring a minimal environmental impact.
Wooden handles - offcuts: We utilize wood offcuts to craft sturdy and stylish handles for our bags, giving them a unique and eco-friendly appeal while reducing waste.
Natural fibre woven handles: For those seeking a more organic touch, our bags also feature handles woven from natural fibres, providing a sustainable and stylish option.
Cane handles: Embrace a rustic charm with our bags adorned with cane handles sourced responsibly to support local artisans and communities.
Lining: Our bags feature a lining made from 100% preloved cotton sheets sourced from local markets. These sheets are eco-printed with local leaves and flowers, adding a unique touch to each bag while promoting sustainability and circularity in fashion.
Care Instructions
Our bags are easy to maintain – simply wipe down the exterior with a clean, damp cloth. Humidity can ruin your bag. Store your product in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. And when it's time to bid farewell, rest assured knowing that your bag is biodegradable and can be composted at the end of its life cycle.

Seeds & Stories operates according to the 4R approach: reduce, reuse, regenerate and recycle. Every shopping bag is handmade in Bigodi, a rural village in Western Uganda, by our highly skilled artisans, Stella and Jane.
Stella and Jane weave our shopping bags with sustainably harvested local palm leaves, which they sundry and natural dye. Stella and Jane use traditional mat weaving techniques to create these beautiful patterns. Each bag takes approximately one week to make.
We use rainwater and local natural dyes, plants, leaves, roots, and flowers to dye our natural fibres. Natural dyes are a biodegradable, non-toxic alternative to petroleum-derived and harmful synthetic dyes, making them better for our artisans, customers, and the environment.
From harvesting to natural dyeing, from hand weaving to finishing, our artisans work at a slow pace in harmony with nature, conserving natural resources.
Each Seeds & Stories product is ethically made from a combination of local natural fibres and dyes, repurposed materials, modern designs, and ancient techniques passed down through generations.
